Tarcher Talks: At Home with Julia Cameron
Julia's Comments

It helps to think of ourselves as radio kits--with Morning Pages, we are "sending," with Artist Dates, we are "receiving." With walks, we integrate. A once or twice-weekly walk, as brief as twenty minutes, yields us a sense of direction. We often walk out with problems, and return home with solutions. Artist Dates help us to break free from our negative, sacrificial programming. We learn to be nice to ourselves. We learn to say "yes" to joy.

Artist Dates are a once a week, solo, festive outing. They are critical to our creative well-being. It is often on an Artist Date that we feel a sense of conscious contact with a benevolent "something." We experience the hunch, intuition or inspiration of what to do next. We are led forward to our benefit.

Often when we look to begin a new project, we think we must know exactly how to execute and finish it. The truth is, we need only know enough to begin. Each step will be revealed to us as we go forward.
